Mr. November (The National)

Toofer Toosday Episode 2: The National (Part 1)

"Mr. November" is the very last track on The National's 2005 spectacular album, Alligator. As is the case with so many of this band's songs, the meaning is a little ambiguous, but for some reason I get images of someone whose reminiscing about former high school football glory. Or perhaps using that as a way to look back on happier times.

If any of you are familiar with the original version you may have noticed a few curse words have been tastefully replaced here. Now it is safe for children and/or my mother.

Part 2 of The National's Toofer Toosday is coming soon! Don't touch that dial!

Toofer Toosday Episode 2: The National (Part 1)

Even though this is only "Episode 2" of my acoustic covers adventures, I've given it the official title of "Toofer Toosday." Thanks to my friend Thadd for the funny spelling. Also thanks to my friend Thadd, the theme for this week is songs of The National (he's the only one who voted!). Also since it has been two weeks since the last "Toofer," this will be a double-episode, with two more songs on the way.

Up first is the song Thadd specifically suggested: "Lemonworld" from The National's most recent release, High Violet. I must say, I do particularly enjoy singing these songs, as my voice resides in the lower registers. Let's here it for baritones!
